The name derives from a combination of the Kelly bag (named after Grace Kelly who carried it) and a classic fragrance of the house, Calèche ~in turn named after a fine-lined horse-drawn carriage. This modern and featherweight floral leather was envisioned after the perfumer read Jean Giono''s Jean Le Bleu, where the narrator talks of his departed father, a cobbler, who is "making soles in angel leather”. Also by his visit to the vaults of Hermès, where he was impressed by the floralcy of the hides. In Kelly Calèche the tartness of grapefruit introduces a fresh note of charming bittersweet impression, while a little honeyed mimosa, climbing rose, a hint of tuberose and lily of the valley conspire to give a charming formula with only a smidge of leather rendered through the magic of natural narcissus absolute. As chiseled pretty as Grace Kelly herself and very smart.
